Viña El Principal
Valle de Maipo, Chile
A winery in Pirque, Alto Maipo, at the foot of the Andes, founded in 1993 by Jorge Fontaine, owner of the El Principal estate, and Frenchman Jean-Paul Valette, former owner of the famous Château Pavie in Saint-Émilion. The aim was to make top red wines in the Bordeaux tradition. The name refers to the chief (“El Principal”) of the Picunche people, lord of these lands. The Memorias wine is a tribute to the late Valette.
