A fairy-tale story: Stéphane and Françoise Dief started in 1998 with a few rows in Saint-Christoly-Médoc, and Clos Manou is now one of the Médoc's great finds. Hand-worked vines on gravel, sand and limestone; full, fine and deep, from the excellent 2015 vintage.

Clos Manou
Bordeaux, France
A “garage” Bordeaux success story from Saint-Christoly-Médoc in the northern Médoc. Françoise and Stéphane Dief started with a 0.12-hectare plot and in 1998 filled two barrels in a tiny cellar – 600 bottles. They gradually bought gravel parcels suited to dense planting and now farm 18 ha, with low yields and hand-sorted berries. The wine is often compared to classified growths at a fraction of their price.
