Winemaker
S. Gattinger
Wachau, Austria
The young winery of Simon Gattinger in Loiben, part of Dürnstein at the eastern end of the Wachau. The family has grown vines for four generations, but it was Simon – after studying in Klosterneuburg and working in Germany, the USA and Switzerland – who revived winemaking under the family name in 2017. All the vineyards lie in Unterloiben and Oberloiben, where the Pannonian climate is already felt. His philosophy: less is more.
