Winemaker
Gernot Heinrich
Neusiedlersee, Austria
The winery of Gernot and Heike Heinrich in Gols by Lake Neusiedl. Gernot started in 1990 with a single hectare next to his parents' business; today they farm around 100 ha. The turning point came in 2006, when they converted the whole estate to biodynamics (certified by Demeter and Respekt). Their flagship grape is Blaufränkisch, at its finest from the cool limestone slopes of the Leithaberg.
