Winemaker
Bessa Valley
Thracian Valley, Bulgaria
A winery in Ognyanovo near Pazardzhik in Bulgaria's Thracian Valley, founded by Count Stephan von Neipperg (owner of Château Canon La Gaffelière in Saint-Émilion) and businessman Karl-Heinz Hauptmann. The project began in 1999, and in 2001 they bought some 800 plots of land just to create the vineyards. On clay-limestone soils they make wines in the Bordeaux style. The name Enira comes from a Thracian tribe that lived here in ancient times.
