Winemaker
Alessio Komjanc
Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy
A family winery in San Floriano del Collio near Gorizia, right on the Slovenian border. The Komjancs have made wine in the Collio since the late 19th century – as early as 1888 a Viennese commission praised Florjan Komjanc's wine as “good and perfect”. Alessio Komjanc bottled the first wine under his own name in 1973, one of the first in the village to do so. Since 2000 his four sons have worked alongside him.
