Château Cantemerle
Bordeaux, France
A Fifth Growth (1855) in Macau in the southern Haut-Médoc. The estate is documented from the 12th century, and wine was already made here in 1354. The Villeneuve-Durfort family held it for over three centuries (1579–1892), after which the Dubos family bought it in near ruin. Since 1981 it has been owned by the insurer SMABTP, which almost entirely replanted the vineyard; today it has around 95 ha on deep gravels.
