Château Cos d'Estournel
Bordeaux, France
A Second Growth (1855) in Saint-Estèphe. The story begins in 1811, when Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel bought vineyards near the hamlet of Cos; his wine was soon exported as far as India. His love of the Orient earned him the nickname “the Maharajah of Saint-Estèphe”, and he built a house with pagodas that remain the estate's symbol. They also gave their name to the second wine, Les Pagodes de Cos (since the 1994 vintage), from younger vines.
